This policy covers human rights, modern slavery, working standards, anti-bribery, conflicts of interest, data protection, environmental responsibility, supplier conduct and reporting concerns.

This policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Ethical Marketing Policy, Whistleblowing Policy and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to:

  • employees, freelancers, contractors, consultants, volunteers, interns and trainees;
  • directors, managers and anyone acting on behalf of Make Local for Global;
  • suppliers, partners, collaborators and service providers where relevant to their work with us;
  • anyone involved in our supply chain, projects, customer services, marketing or business operations.

We expect everyone covered by this policy to act honestly, fairly and lawfully.

2. Human rights and modern slavery

We respect human rights and do not tolerate modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, child labour, exploitation or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment.

We expect our suppliers, contractors and partners to respect basic human rights and to take reasonable steps to prevent modern slavery or exploitation in their own operations and supply chains.

Concerns about modern slavery, forced labour or human trafficking should be reported immediately using the contact routes in this policy or our Whistleblowing Policy.

3. Working standards

We aim to treat people fairly, respectfully and lawfully. We expect fair working standards across our business and from those working with us.

4. Anti-bribery and corruption

We have a zero-tolerance approach to bribery, corruption and facilitation payments.

No person working for us or on our behalf may offer, give, request, accept or receive a bribe, kickback, facilitation payment or improper advantage.

Any suspected bribery or corruption must be reported immediately to ethics@makelocalforglobal.com or through our Whistleblowing Policy.

Breaches of this policy may lead to disciplinary, contractual or legal action.

5. Conflicts of interest

A conflict of interest may arise where personal, financial, family or other interests could affect, or appear to affect, a person’s ability to act in the best interests of Make Local for Global, our clients or our partners.

Potential or actual conflicts of interest must be declared as soon as possible.

Examples may include:

  • working with a competing business without disclosure;
  • having a financial interest in a supplier or client decision;
  • using confidential information for personal gain;
  • favouring a friend, family member or connected business in a commercial decision.

We may take steps to manage a conflict, including removing a person from a decision, changing responsibilities or ending a relationship where needed.

We aim to reduce the environmental impact of our work where practical and proportionate.

Our approach may include:
