This notice explains how MR GREAT LTD trading as Make Local for Global (MLFG) uses personal information about applicants and participants in Local to Global Launchpad. We provide this information when we collect your details and update it when our programme or data use changes.

Who we are

MR GREAT LTD, company number 11582877, trading as Make Local for Global, is responsible for the processing described in this notice unless a specific commissioner arrangement states otherwise. Registered office: 124 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX. Contact: launchpad@makelocalforglobal.com.

At a glance

  • We use application information to assess eligibility and administer the programme.
  • We use participant information to prepare stores, deliver training, provide support, assess completion and report agreed outcomes.
  • Required programme communications are separate from optional marketing.
  • Photography, testimonials and case studies are optional and require separate permission.
  • Commissioners receive aggregated or anonymised reporting by default.

1. Information we collect

  • Contact details, including name, email, phone and borough or location.
  • Business details, including business name, product description, category, sales channels and social or website links.
  • Programme information, including objectives, confidence, ecommerce knowledge, attendance and support needs.
  • Optional equality, diversity and inclusion information, including age group, gender, ethnic background and disability status.
  • Application, booking, attendance, completion, feedback and outcome information.
  • Testimonials, photographs and case-study information where you give separate permission.

Information from other sources

We may receive referral, eligibility or contact information from a commissioner or delivery partner. We may also receive booking or provider-status information from services used to deliver the programme. Where required, we will tell you the source.

Please do not send unnecessary information. Do not include customer lists, payment-card details, passwords, identity documents or sensitive personal information unless MLFG has specifically requested it through an approved secure process.

2. Why we use information and lawful bases

We use information to assess and manage applications, arrange bookings, deliver the programme, provide store support, communicate with participants, issue certificates, measure attendance and outcomes, prepare commissioner reports, improve the programme and meet contractual or legal responsibilities.

Depending on the activity, our lawful bases are contract or steps before contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation and consent. Optional marketing, photographs, testimonials, case studies and some equality information use separate consent choices. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Equality and special-category information

Optional equality and diversity information helps us understand reach and report fair participation. It is not used to make an automated decision about your application. Where accessibility, health, safeguarding or equality information is special-category data, we will use an appropriate UK GDPR Article 9 condition and safeguards.

3. Who receives information

  • Authorised MLFG staff and contractors who need it to administer or support the programme.
  • The commissioner or funder, normally through aggregated or anonymised reporting. Identifiable information is shared only where necessary, lawful, transparent and documented.
  • Trusted providers supporting forms, CRM, bookings, email, hosting, domains, analytics, document storage, communications and security.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, auditors, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where reasonably necessary or legally required.
  • Emergency, safeguarding or support contacts where necessary to protect someone or respond appropriately.

For different activities, MLFG and a commissioner may act as independent controllers, joint controllers, or a controller and processor. We will document these roles before applications open and explain identifiable data sharing in the application process where applicable.

4. International transfers and security

Some providers may store or access information outside the UK. Where this happens, MLFG will use a lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

We use proportionate technical and organisational measures, including access controls, secure accounts, backups, updates and limited staff access. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Suspected incidents are assessed and handled under applicable law.

MLFG does not intend to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. Applications are reviewed by a person.

5. Retention

We keep application and programme records for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the cohort, meet reporting and accounting requirements, resolve queries and protect our legal interests. We review retention periods regularly. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it unless the law or an active dispute requires longer retention. We may keep a minimal suppression record so we do not send marketing after you opt out.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Ask us to delete information in some circumstances.
  • Ask us to restrict processing in some circumstances.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format where the right applies.
  • Withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful use.

To exercise a right, email launchpad@makelocalforglobal.com. We may need information to verify your identity and understand your request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any exemption or extension.

7. Marketing and media permissions

Marketing choices are separate and unticked. You can unsubscribe or withdraw consent without affecting your funded place, certificate or programme support. Photographs, testimonials and case studies also require separate permission.

8. Complaints

Please contact MLFG first so we can try to resolve your concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. Your right to complain is not affected by contacting us first.

9. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the programme, providers, commissioner arrangement or law changes. Material changes will be brought to participants’ attention through an appropriate channel. The latest version and publication date will remain on this page.
